Mexico swine flu toll rises to 80
May 23rd, 2009 - 12:42 pm ICT by IANSMexico City, May 23 (Xinhua) The toll in Mexico’s swine flu outbreak has risen to 80, while the number of people infected with the virus totalled 4,174 in the country, the health ministry said.
The deaths represented 1.9 percent of the confirmed cases of influenza A(H1N1) virus, also called swine flu, the ministry said in a statement Friday.
Of the infected people, 56.3 percent were female and 43.7 percent male.
Thirty-two Mexican states have been affected by the swine flu outbreak.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 11,370 people in 41 countries have been infected with swine flu.
