In 2009, the number was dengue cases was 1,153, with three deaths. In 2010, the number of cases so far is 121 and person has died due to the disease.
“The number of dengue cases will double, compared to the last two years, as the conditions are favourable for breeding of mosquitoes as city is filled up with pot holes and pits due to the construction activity,” Monga added.
Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of the meeting, Monga said: “On Aug 11, a team of officials from agencies like the Public Works Department and the Delhi Development Authority are likely to inspect the Commonwealth Games village and jointly discuss steps to control the disease.”
