November 9th, 2010 - 2:15 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Nov 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A nutrition professor has left several nutritionists including himself scratching their heads after an unexpected results to a study, which he carried on himself. The professor - Mark Haub ate what is considered junk foods every three hours daily and skipped his normal diet for the period of two months.
Ironically, Prof. Haub did not gain weight but rather lost weight during the period. The Professor lost 27 pounds and his bad cholesterol level dropped by 20 percent while his good cholesterol increased by the same percentage during the period. What is more, Professor Haub’s BMI dropped from 28.8 which is considered obese to 24.9 which is considered ideal.
Professor Haub however does not recommend eating the food that he ate during the period. He admitted though that he was stuck in the middle of whether he should talk against junk food or not. Throughout the period of the survey, Professor Haub ate only Doritos chips, sugary cereals and Oreos. However the Professor also added a few additions like multivitamin pill and protein shake that were taken daily with some green vegetables.
Prof. Haubs findings raise the question of the important factor of weight loss. The choice is torn between the quantity or the quality of calories that are consumed.
