Sep 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The menopause in women is a well known subject but there is much controversy among public and even the medical community regarding the concept of male menopause. The syndrome in men is drastically different from that of women and thee is a lot of debates on the topic till date. The men who think they suffer from the syndrome often complain of depression, fatigue, weight gain along with sexual dysfunction. The degree of problems may also vary. In a lot of these cases the affected lot usually do not have the required level of testosterone and doctors usually prescribe additional doses of testosterone inducing products.
Some people also have the idea that they actually can benefit from testosterone replacement. Dr. Thomas Walsh associated with Seattle’s University of Washington’s School of Medicine however is of the opinion that this therapy can not be an one stop solution for the affected men. He also says that the treatment for the syndrome may yield different results on different people as a lot of things actually depend on their lifestyle.
Menopause in the case of women signals the end of fertility which is never the case with men. The level of Testosterone drops in all men but not all of them undergo the same effects. The way people live their lives can also affect their sexual life. Decrease in sexual ability is not necessarily indicative of menopause and there could be other factors involved say the doctors. Hence a person in his mid 40s should not seek testosterone treatment before evaluating all causes.
