Louisville, May 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) said that its Double Down chicken Sandwich would still be on the company’s menu after the 23rd of May. The company initially said that the Double Down sandwich to be off their menu by May 23, in a promotion they called “Limited Time Only”. The Double Down sandwich comes in two varieties - the Original recipe and the Grilled one. The Original recipe contains about 540 calories and the Grilled version contains 460 calories.

The restaurant’s executive vice president of marketing and food innovation said the extension is as a result of customer demand and the company said the sandwich would be available through the summer. The Double Down sandwich consists of a boneless chicken filets with two pieces of bacon, two melted Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese in Colonel’s Sauce. The sandwich has been a success according to KFC. The sandwich is completely bereft of a bun, and that is certainly an innovative feature, which could be responsible for its popularity.

KFC has said that the Double Down sandwich is very popular and said the product has several fans who they do not want to disappoint. This has therefore necessitated the decision to extend the product beyond the original deadline.
