kelloggs-recallJune 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Massive Kellogg Recall affecting 28 million boxes of cereal has become a headline. The packs had to be recalled because a chemical substance is getting into the cereals after leaking from the packaging. The FDA has said that the recall is owing to an uncharacteristic smell coming from the package liner. The customers have been warned that the recalled packets should not be used. The kids who eat cereals from these packages may suffer from vomiting and diarrhea. The recalled cereal variants are Corn Pops, Honey Smacks, Froot Loops and Apple Jacks.

The recall points out to the fact that packaging which is done to make the food last longer can also spoil and contaminate it in certain cases. In Kellogg’s case the chemical that leaked into the cereals changed the smell and the issue could be identified easily. However, in some cases odorless chemicals can be used in packaging and this can spoil the food without anyone getting a hint. Kellogg’s however has issued a notice citing the cause of the recall and has apologized to the customers for the incident. The company has also made it clear that it will remove the affected cereal packets from the market as soon as possible.

So far 20 people have got affected by these cereals and they complained of suffering from vomiting and nausea. However, Kellogg’s made it clear that the people who have eaten it unknowingly will not suffer from any severe health hazard. The company is now trying to figure out which chemical led to the strange odor in the cereal packets.
