Seattle, Oct 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Keller Rohrback L.L.P. has announced that it will carry on with its investigation into the side effects of using the weight-loss drug Merida. The drug, which is manufactured by Abbot Laboratories, contains the appetite suppressant, sibutramine. The company recently announced that it has agreed to withdraw the drug from the US market after request from the Food and Drugs Administration in the United States.
The FDA issued the request after it reviewed the Sibutramine Cardiovascular Outcomes Trial (SCOUT) data. The data was based on earlier studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine on people with history of heart disease who used the drug, Merida. The report of the study suggested that those people might have increased risk of heart attack or even stroke. People with other heart problems were also found to be negatively affected by the use of the drug.
Keller Rohrback is specialized in investigation side effects that drugs have on its users. The company’s lawyers have succeeded in retrieving millions of dollars from pharmaceutical companies to people who have been adversely affected by the products. As such the company is urging all United States citizens who have been injured or seen their close relative injured by the drug to contact their office.
