milk New York, July 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There have been several arguments why drinking raw milk could be dangerous to your health. The chief reason amongst them is the risk of getting the deadly bacteria E. coli or Salmonella. But is the risk worth the ban?

The United States has banned the sale of raw milk to consumers because of the health risks associated with it. The Food and Drugs Administration requires that farmers can only sell milk that has been pasteurized. Pasteurization involves heating the milk to 161 degrees, enough to kill most of the deadly bacteria that could possibly contaminate the milk.

But a group of consumers believe that there are several benefits in drinking raw milk. They argue that there are other several benefits in drinking raw milk like the elimination of allergies. Most parents risk prosecution in search of raw milk for their families. They argue that after drinking the raw milk for a period, their visits to the hospital are reduced drastically.

But scientists maintain that such claims are not proven. Though scientists admit that some of the nutrients in the milk are destroyed when it is pasteurized, but they maintain that eating a balanced diet makes up for the loss of nutrients.
