Impaled African student out of danger, other discharged
April 26th, 2010 - 7:54 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 26 (IANS) The Ivory Coast national who was seriously injured when iron rods jutting out of a truck pierced his arm and chest in a road accident is now out of danger, while his car mate has been discharged from hospital, doctors said here Monday.
“We have discharged one of the two injured in the accident. Adoma is almost out of danger and responding well to medicines,” said Prem Prakash, one of the doctors treating the west African national at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre.
Adoma and Cheick, both IT students, had a major accident when two iron rods pierced them after their car collided with the iron rods jutting out a truck near Savitri cinema in south Delhi early April 19. Both are citizens of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
The main artery of Adoma’s right arm, his lungs and the thoracic valve were damaged in the incident. Cheick had only suffered leg injuries.
“His (Adoma’s) condition is stable. He is still in the intensive care unit (ICU) but off the ventilator,” Prakash told IANS.
He said though doctors were fearing of infection, the patient has adopted well to the medication.
