Hospital guard held for selling blood
September 30th, 2011 - 7:32 pm ICT by IANSJaipur, Sep 30 (IANS) A woman security guard at a government hospital in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district was arrested for illegally selling a unit of blood to a cancer patient’s family for Rs.3,500, police said Friday.
Security guard Shashi Chauhan was nabbed Thursday following a complaint by the patient’s mother saying that she took money and sold a unit of blood from Sanwaliya Ji Government Hospital’s blood bank in Bhilwara, police said.
Not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of the hospital’s blood bank employees in the racket, police said they were looking for another security guard, Dashrath Rawat, suspected to be part of the gang.
“Vidhya, mother of cancer patient Sajjan Bai, approached the hospital authorities saying that she was duped by two security guards,” a police officer told IANS.
