Jan 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Health Care Reform 101 has already whipped up a storm in the political and medical circles. The Health Care plan proposed by President Barrack Obama has faced both positive and negative feedbacks. There is no denying the fact a majority of the Americans want a reform in the health care plan. However, not many people have any clear idea on which type of reforms should be introduced in the existing system. The choice of a public option has also made some people confused and they are at a loss to understand what it actually means. A lot of Americans have existing health insurance policies bought from the private companies.
Medicare is also another instance of public health insurance. It is however, meant for the elderly lot of the population. The government employees enjoy the privilege of reduced premiums and the list includes the congressmen, senators and of course the president. The ongoing debate on health care reform is based on the inclusion of public insurance plan. If it is introduced, it may co exist with the plans of private sector health insurance companies. The bloggers are writing their opinion in their sites and one can find lots of arguments on the topic.
As usual with any reform policy, certain myths and rumors have spread among the public on the health care reform plan. Contrary to some perceptions, the suggested public health insurance plan will remain a choice and no one would be compelled to take it up, discarding their existing policies. It is meant for the welfare of the average citizens and no one would be burdened with it if they do not want it.
