story1Utah, Aug 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The nationwide egg recall that has created panic among the residents of the various states of the USA and put the medical community on tenterhooks, has finally reached Utah. An Agriculture official associated with the Utah department has said that around 15 dozen eggs covered by the recall have made it to Utah. However, it is not known if the recalled eggs have reached Salt Lake City or not. Larry Lewis the UDA spokesman said that the FDA has admitted that approximately 15 dozen eggs produced by the tainted Wright County Egg Farm based in Iowa reached Utah. As everyone knows by now, the eggs are being recalled in various states owing to the risk of salmonella infection. It has also been reported that the eggs were sent to a distributor in West Jordan to sell them in some restaurants.

However, the UDA spokesman could not say if the eggs have been taken of the shelves or not. The FDA issued instructions to all customers of the eggs to dispose them. The heartening thing for the Salt Lake City residents is that the eggs sold in the region are mostly produced in Utah state itself and not acquired from farms in other states. The UDAF has recommended that the customers should boil the egg well to kill any germs present.

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food is of the opinion that the eggs produced in the state that are being sold in Salt Lake City and other regions are not contaminated and can be safely consumed. No salmonella infection from recalled eggs have been reported in Utah as of now.
