soft_drinks New York, July 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) New research by US scientists have shown that eating lots of food and drinks that have fructose is likely to increase the chance of a person getting high blood pressure.

This further increases scientists’ fears that sugar increases a person’s blood pressure and there is a clear emphasis on fructose. The study was printed in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and was done by Michael Chonchol of the Colorado University Health Centre, which is located at Denver.

He said that, “The data is very consistent with what has been in other papers.” He also confirmed that eating less sugar would certainly help a person’s blood pressure to be lower.

According to the American Heart Foundation, eating more sugar is the number one cause of diabetes, stroke and cardiac disease. Many US states including New York have increased taxes on sugar-laden food and drinks to offset the medical bills of people, who are treated with medical conditions linked with body fat.

US President Obama’s government has urged lawmakers to “analyze the effect of state and local sales taxes on less healthy, energy-dense foods” to decrease the number of overweight children.
