July 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are a number of fast foods and drinks that people consume a lot and the common ingredient in all of them is sugar. However, a new study suggests that the excess of fructose which is a component in nearly all drinks people consume these days can aggravate blood pressure. It is also found in some fruits. Sometimes people drinking soft drinks and sodas do not even understand that they are consuming excess fructose. It is common knowledge that high blood pressure can lead to cardiac ailments in a lot of people.
The new study can make the people who are addicted to soda and soft drinks do a rethink on the diet. The study was carried out on more than 4,500 adults. The average consumed amount of fructose was equal to 74 grams per day. It can be compared with 4 cans of soft drinks per day on an average. While no person involved in the survey was suffering from high blood pressure around 33 percent of them were on the verge of it. 8 Percent of the candidates also had hypertension as it has been found.
It was quite clear that the adults who took excess fructose through their food were more susceptible to develop high blood pressure levels. However, the researchers who conducted the study are going to perform more tests on it. The details of the study have been published in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. The report has created quite a sensation in the medical community and nutritionists are also reviewing the study.
