FDA issues stern warning against ‘Magic Power Coffee’
June 22nd, 2010 - 1:50 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Jun 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The FDA has issued a stern warning against the Magic Power Coffee, which is being sold as an aphrodisiac. The company has advertised the product as “serving passion one cup at a time.”
But all such claims are far from true, and on the contrary the product can be very dangerous, and cause serious harm as well. The director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Office of Compliance - Deborah M. Autor said that, “Because this product is an instant coffee labeled as an ‘all natural dietary supplement,’ consumers may assume it is harmless and poses no health risk. In fact, Magic Power Coffee can cause serious harm.”
The FDA also added that such products shouldn’t be trusted, as they expose their consumers to unknown risks. According to reports, the product has a chemical that could mix with other prescription drugs, and cause a sudden significant drop in the blood pressure, which could in turn lead to dizziness or light-headedness.
However the FDA has honestly admitted that they haven’t heard of any causality because of this product, as yet. However they warned that if anyone experiences any problems, then they can report it to FDA’s MedWatch program at 800-FDA-1088.
