Washington DC, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The US Food and Drugs Administration have given the green light for people who suffer constant headaches to turn to Botox for treatment due to its capacity to seal access to body nerves. The treatment is for people who at least suffer migraines half of the time every month.

Russell Katz, who is the FDA’s director of products for neurology revealed in a statement that one of the worst conditions of headaches is constant migraines as it can sever family, work and social ties and reiterated that there should be multiple treatments for it.

He revealed that chronic migraine patients should get a couple of Botox injections in body areas such as the head and neck every 3 months to prevent or at least minimize the reoccurrence of the headaches later. Research has shown that chronic migraine patients who used to suffer from the condition 2 weeks out of every month have seen almost 8 days of full migraine relief after the beginning of Botox treatment.

Even though this is some good news, Botox hasn’t been show to be effective in treating other headache conditions. Conditions such as weak muscles as well as painful breathing and swallowing could occur to patients whose treatments spread out of the injection areas.
