Erectile dysfunction can cause heart attack!

London, June 13 (IANS) Studies have revealed that up to three-quarters of all men with consistent erectile dysfunction (ED) can expect to suffer a heart attack or stroke within five years.
ED has been found out to be a predictor of vascular disease, predominantly coronary disease and stroke. The figures show that half of men who have had a heart attack will have had ED for about three years beforehand, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Also men who have ED - an estimated 150 million globally - are more likely to die earlier than those who don’t.

All arteries can become clogged, due to high cholesterol, raised blood pressure, smoking, obesity or diabetes, but because those in the penis are so small - 1 mm to 2 mm in diameter - they are affected a lot sooner than those in the heart, which are 3 mm to 4 mm wide.

In trials around the world, the vast majority of cases of ED - 75 percent - were caused by hardening of the arteries.

The majority of men aged 30 and over with ED are at high risk of developing the problems that lead to heart disease; those under 40 who have ED are seven times more likely to develop heart problems than those who do not.
