Egg Recall Raises Concern About Salmonella Infection

egg1Aug 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the wake of an estimated 380 eggs being recalled by an Iowa based egg producer, health safety experts have expressed concern that the number of people affected by the salmonella infection is likely to escalate. The United States government has revealed that the salmonella infection has rendered hundreds of people sick in states across the country which includes California, Colorado as well as Minnesota. Despite the fact that any deaths due to the infection caused by the bacteria has not been reported as yet, the United States Food and Drug Administration has pointed out that the total number of cases of salmonella outbreak has increased four times since the month of May this year.

Although initially instances of Salmonella outbreak were limited to the three above-mentioned states, the U.S. authorities have now revealed that a thorough investigation in the salmonella outbreak is also being undertaken in the other states of the country which includes Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Oregon, to name a few. Since the list of the egg recall by Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa has been extended on Wednesday, concerns has been mounting among the consumers.

Even the statistics of salmonella infection in United States is quite grim as a whopping 40,000 cases of the microbial outbreak is reported in the country every year with 400 people losing their lives. The usual symptoms of salmonella infection includes diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramp, nausea as well as fever. The bacteria is capable of causing intestinal infection and is known to be one of the most common source of food-borne infection in the country.
