Darth Vader ‘Dark Side’ Diagnosis: Borderline Personality!
June 9th, 2010 - 3:29 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonA group of psychiatrists and psychologists from France believe that they have finally discovered exactly what Darth Vader’s “Dark Side” is caused by.
These doctors claim that they have come to the conclusion, after carefully reading the second and third prequels to the famous ‘Star Wars’ saga, that the Dark Lord of the Sith is not being pushed by ‘The Dark Side’, but rather by Borderline Personality Disorder.
A letter which details the finding of these French doctors will be published in an upcoming issue of ‘Psychiatry Research’.
They claim that Darth Vader’s ‘patterns of instability and impulsivity’ are classic symptoms of a condition called borderline personality disorder. He is said to show 6 of the 9 criteria which are laid out in the DSM-IV, and only five of them are needed to properly diagnose a patient.
Some of those criteria which are plainly displayed by Vader are ” impulsivity and anger management issues, abandonment issues, dissociative episodes, and identity disturbance.” The doctors claim that these findings about the Jedi Knight could be used in teaching us about real life mental issues.
They feel that Darth Vader’s character could be used to inform the public about the condition, as well as erase some of the stigma associated with borderline personality disorder.
