Cops suspended for creating ruckus in hospital
June 19th, 2011 - 11:53 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, June 19 (IANS) Chandigarh Police have suspended two of its officers for creating ruckus at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and manhandling its employees.
The accused were identified as head constable Balbir Singh and constable Sandeep Singh. They were accompanying a heart patient to the PGIMER here Thursday night when the incident took place.
According to the complaint, the accused manhandled Bimla, a sweeper, when she objected to their drinking liquor near the emergency stairs. They hurled abuses at her and thrashed two other male employees who intervened in the matter.
Following this, the victims wrote a petition to the PGIMER director, who further sent it to the Chandigarh Police.
“Balbir and Sandeep have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered,” said a police officer Sunday.
During the last 45 days, at least seven officers of Chandigarh Police have been suspended. Five of them were suspended for taking bribe in three different cases.
