Colorado, Aug 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) While the nationwide and massive egg recall has created sensation in the media and scared the public there are some eating outlets in some states that have not been affected much by the recall. The restaurants in Colorado have not reported much egg-supply problems even amidst the recall. It is well known that the massive recall has been announced to prevent salmonella infection among the consumers. The restaurants in the state that get egg supplied by an Iowa based egg producer reported they only faced trivial disruptions.
Sharon Baumann who is the manager of a restaurant in Denver said that he had to lose only one egg case for the recall. He also said that the customers are not panicking much either. The statements made by the Public health officials indicate that salmonella infection cases cased by infected eggs have been found in 14 US states. The alarming thing is that 2000 cases of food poisoning related illness have been registered so far. In the last two months Colorado reported 28 cases of Salmonella infection and the count is higher than normal limit. Jon Schlegel who owns tree branches of Snooze breakfast restaurants in the state said that his restaurants get egg supplied by a Colorado farm not covered by this recall.
However, he admitted that the customers are asking him about the safety of the eggs used in his restaurants. The eggs supplied by Wright County Egg on Iowa were pulled out from the Safeway and Albertsons stores in Colorado. The other egg distributors are here are on tenterhooks since the recall has been extended.
