May 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Revelations of a new research brings some great news for coffee ans soft drinks lovers all across the world. A study which was recently published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute states that consuming large amounts of coffee or sugary sodas does not result in increased risk of colon cancer, to the utter delight of lovers of the cocoa beans.
The study was undertaken by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health who gathered data from a number of earlier studies while taking into consideration more than 700,000 individuals after their dietary habit were also noted down. The study revealed that lesser than one in a hundred developed colon cancer while neither coffee nor sodas played any role in influencing the rate of developing the disease. While revealing the details of the research Dr. Xuehong Zhang, associated with the Harvard School of Public Health stated that drinking as many as six cups of coffee per day was not in any way related to accentuating the risk of colon cancer. The same was true for people consuming about eighteen ounces of carbonated drinks daily but a modest link was found between consuming more than 8 ounce cups of herbal tea with the risk of colon cancer.
Meanwhile, the scientists have also pointed out that the findings of the study also had certain limitations such as the data that was considered about coffee took into account only the European population while a mere two per cent of the individuals who were considered drank the earlier high levels of tea and carbonated drinks.
