July 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Customers have complained for a blue plastic substance in chicken nuggets causing Perdue Farms to recall more than 90,000 pounds of the frozen chicken snack from the market. The nuggets were sold at the Wal-Mart stores across USA. The affected product is the ‘Great Value Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets’ that is sold in 1 pound, 13 ounce packets at the Wal Mart stores.
Perdue has assured money back for the customers who have purchased the packets and found the blue plastic in the chicken. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service was the body that recalled the product after the substance was reported and verified. Though no cases of injury or damage to health has been reported the USDA has urged customers to consult a physician in case of any problems arising from the consumption of the tainted products. The FSIS has also offered a 24/7 helpline for the customers in case of any problems regarding the product. Perdue on the other hand has also given out a consumer relations helpline number after the contaminated chicken nuggets were recalled.
According to the press release by the USDA, the FSIS makes sure that the organizations take adequate steps to notify all the customers about the recall and also ensure that none of the product is available in the market. The product was manufactured on June 9, 2010 and were shipped in cases. Each case contained 8 packets of the chicken nuggets. The expiry date of the product was June 9, 2011. Perdue has recently launched its latest line in chicken products that has been touted as a healthy and nutritious snack option as it contains whole grain breaded chicken pieces.
