June 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bovine tuberculosis is caused by an aerobic bacteria Mycobacterium bovis. This causes tuberculosis in cattle.
Recent reports say that in a Colorado dairy herd four cows were tested positive for bovine tuberculosis test and the court has imposed fines total of $114,000 on companies who crossed the border into Queensland with cattle without health clearances.
As per reports bovine tuberculosis has a long incubation period in which it first causes diarrhea and then possibly leads to death.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture began their investigation in March 2010 when abnormal tissues were discovered on a Southern Colorado cow while slaughtering.
The tissues were tested and the bacteria for bovine TB were found. As per reports bovine disease is under legislation and any case of bovine disease is asked to report directly to the Biosecurity Queensland.
As reported the court has penalized five parties who were accused of bringing at least 198 cattle in Queensland without any legal permission from New South Wales within the control territory of Bovine disease.
Reports say that according to Tim Mulherin, Queensland Minister for Primary Industries 36 animals were later discovered its origin from an infected Bovine Johne’s Disease molecules and in the second delivery 100 animals were reported to have originated from an infected Bovine disease molecule. The good news as reported is there is no biosecurity danger due to this disease.
Bovine disease has created lot of hue and cry among the people of Colorado and Queensland. The farmers may have suffered a major setback if there was no action taken on time.
It seems for now things are under control with disease detected and proper action taken.
