Providence, Apr 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nobody on this planet is flawless but then again everyone tries to be presentable and look their best. The strain takes on body and is passed on to the mind which heavily suffers from depression. Inarguably this “How to look good” syndrome is driving people crazy all over the globe. Brown Medical School Psychiatry professor Dr. Phillips has come up with an intelligent study which explores the behavioral patterns of the people who are subjected to B.D.D (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) which is an semi abnormal condition where human beings tend to suffer from the thought that their body parts are imperfect and makes them look ugly and non -presentable before one and all.
The doctor is of the opinion that these people who suffer from this particular syndrome witness their disorder state right from their childhood owing to the fact that they are being teased or neglected for their bodily imperfection. The issue is mostly recovered when one grows adult but in some rare cases it takes a heavy toll upon the individual where a case of mental trauma is being observed.
The doctors treat these emotionally challenged patients with “Cognitive therapy” which pertains to their behavioral patterns along with SSRI drugs (Serotonin-Enhancing). Survey reports have proved the fact that about 56% percent of women and 43% of men are hugely dissatisfied with the way they look. Concern for appearance is the key thing over here and the root cause of BDD. It was told by the medical professionals that BDD patients keep thinking about heir bodily flaws for 3-9 hours in single day. What makes it worse is that the affected feel that can’t control their thoughts no matter how hard they try.
