Beware of quacks, says Delhi Medical Council
January 9th, 2011 - 2:34 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Cautioning against fake doctors, the Delhi Medical Council Sunday issued advertisements in leading dailies saying that the advice of quacks may worsen illnesses and any information on them should be given to the council for immediate action.”Do you know you may even lose your life if you get treated by quacks? Fake doctors have no medical knowledge and adopt unscientific methods of treatment which may worsen your illness,” the council said.
According to the council, quacks can be punished with rigorous imprisonment which may extend to three years, a fine of upto Rs.20,000 or both.
“Registration with Delhi Medical Council is mandatory for practicing allopathic system of medicine in Delhi and every practitioner must display his or her registration number in the clinic, on the prescription, certificate and money receipts given to patients,” the ad said.
The Delhi Medical Council is a statutory body constituted by the Delhi government as a result of the enactment of the Delhi Medical Council Act, 1997.
