Belgium confirms second case of swine fluMay 14th, 2009 - 9:42 pm ICT by IANS
Brussels, May 14 (DPA) The Belgian authorities Thursday confirmed the second case of swine flu in the country, less than 24 hours after the first case was identified, Belgian media reported.
A special governmental commission set up to control any possible outbreak of the disease made the announcement, the Belga news agency said. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
The news comes a day after the commission confirmed that a 28-year-old Flemish man from near the town of Ghent had tested positive for the new form of swine flu.
He had just returned from a visit to New York and Chicago.
According to broadcaster VRT, the man was “doing well” and was eager to return home, but would be kept in quarantine for five days as a precaution.
