April 27, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Four widespread bad habits can claim twelve years of life. In keeping with a fresh exploration, smoking, guzzling alcohol, bodily sluggishness and an unhealthy diet can age anyone by 12 years.

This finding arrives from an exploration that followed virtually 5000 adults for over 20 years. Participants were arbitrarily chosen in a nationwide British Health Survey. In general, 314 people were found with all the four detrimental behaviors. Among them, 91 passed away during the study, which turned out to be 29 %. Only 8% of the 387 healthiest people with none of these harmful habits died during the course of the investigation.

The hazardous behaviors include smoking, consuming tobacco, gulping more than three alcoholic drinks per day for men and more than two for women, getting fewer than two hours of bodily movements per week and devouring fruits and vegetables fewer than three times daily.

Elisabeth Kvaavik, chief researcher of the University of Oslo, observed that these habits in combination considerably heightened the danger of demise and claimed 12 years of people, who indulged in them.
