New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Friday condoled the deaths in the fire at AMRI Hospital in Kolkata and offered West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee “all possible help and assistance”.
“Kindly let me know of any assistance that the Centre can render to the state government in terms of doctors, specialists, medicines and other consumables,” Azad wrote in his letter to Banerjee.
He noted union Health Secretary P.K. Pradhan has already spoken to the state chief secretary and health secretary twice during the day and offered any services that might be required.
More than 80 people have been reported killed in a fire at the AMRI multi-specialty hospital.
“It is all the more tragic that most of the victims were patients undergoing medical treatment at the hospital,” Azad wrote.
