Dec 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) New research which was published in the Pediatrics journal which may cause concern for parent of kids who live in apartment complexes. It would seem that even if you are very careful, and never smoke or allows others to smoke around your children, they could still be exposed to second hand smoke through the walls and shared ventilation, and harmful chemicals could be seeping into your child’s body.

The study showed that those kids who live in apartments have a higher level of cotinine in their blood streams, than those kids who live in detached housing. This chemical is a sign of exposure to tobacco.

There were five thousand and two children who were between six and eighteen years old that lived in homes where no one smoked, who were studied in the research. Those kids who lived in detached housing had forty-five percent less of the tobacco by product cotinine than those in apartments. Another study also showed that as the laws against smoking becomes harsher, cases of childhood asthma symptoms are declining. This research had already led to stricter rules and ban on smoking in apartments in some areas.
