Another swine flu death in Himachal, toll rises to 16
January 6th, 2010 - 10:01 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Jan 6 (IANS) A 38-year-old woman died due to swine flu in Himachal Pradesh, taking the toll due to Influenza A (H1N1) in the state to 16, a health official said here Wednesday.
“A 38-year-old woman died at the Shimla’s Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital last (Tuesday) evening due to swine flu. She was admitted to the hospital Tuesday,” swine flu nodal officer Vinod Mehta told IANS.
He said the patient died within a few hours after being admitted to the hospital. She belonged to this town.
“Her samples were sent for examination yesterday (Tuesday). This (Wednesday) afternoon her samples tested positive for flu,” he added.
He said that so far 16 people have died due to the H1N1 virus in the state.
“Till now 43 people have tested positive for the disease,” he added.
