actroid-f-angel-of-death2Oct 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In what can only be described as one giant step into the future, Japanese hospitals are testing a nurse robot called Actroid-F that can mimic the facial expressions of the operator. Going by the photos and videos of the robot, it appears straight out of the ‘Terminator’ series but with a totally different intent. The nurse is being considered for the role of one to one communication with the patients and also for watching over them.

Actroid-F was also showcased at the laboratory fair of National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. Here there was a teleoperating station provided with a camera where the operators movements were replicated by the robot. Since the unveiling of the robot, the web has been abuzz with the photos and videos of the robot which appears exactly like a live girl with straight black hair and a pretty face. On a casual look it is almost impossible to make out that the nurse is a robot.

The Actroid-F can move its eyes, open and close its mouth, replicate breathing, frown, smile, nod and even bow. At 1.4m while seating, many might just not recognize the machine while passing by. Though some bloggers found the news and the images to be rather creepy, some called it the future of healthcare. The Actroid-F is the sister of Geminoid-F which was showcased by the same company last year. Though the details about the implementation of the robot nurse is scarce, it is evident that more details are expected to emerge in the days to come.
