New York, May 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new e-cigarette which will be available from next month will make it possible for smokers to detect other smokers 50 feet away. The device, Blu, will use signals to alert other Blu users around.

The manufacturers say the device is going to cost $80 for a pack containing five units. A smoker can smoke a stick 250 times before discarding it. Though e-cigarettes have been around for some time, this will be the first time that the device will be able to locate others in a neighborhood.

When an e-cigarette user happens to be nearby, the pack will vibrate to draw attention. The pack will also give off blue light to effectively confirm that another person is using the device around. The makers say people can use the device to get together.

E-cigarettes are different from the conventional cigarettes in that they don’t produce smoke. What they however do it that they heat the nicotine and give similar effect. The device’s popularity has been soaring in the United States especially with the ban on public smoking.

The US Food and Drugs Administration announced last month that e-cigarettes will be subjected to the same scrutiny as other tobacco products before they will be approved.
