Washington DC, Jun 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As an advisor to US President Obama - David Axelrod seems very happy when he is surrounded with cameras. However beneath that grin, which he gives on camera, lies a huge battle with epilepsy that he and his family have to deal with.

Epilepsy is one of the most dangerous diseases in the world and no none will ever dream of getting associated with it. David in a recent interview with Kate Couric of ‘60 Minutes’ shared his experiences. He and his wife Susan have joined the tens of thousand of people, who wish that a solution could be found for this deadly medical condition.

He knew little about the disease until his seven-month-old daughter – Lauren was struck with the disease. David’s wife Susan lamented that she thought their daughter was dead, when she saw her lying lifelessly in her crib in her crib for the first time, as she was suffering from a seizure.

Lauren is now 28 years old, and still suffers from the disease. Her brain has been damaged by the severe and frequent nature of her seizures and Susan and her family have been helpless in getting a cure for Lauren.

Susan with the aid of two of mothers of epileptic children have now started CURE, which wants to fund the research, which has the goal of finding a cure for epilepsy. “It does seem so unfair that this dreaded disease has been around from time immemorial yet does not receive the adequate funding to carry out a proper research,“ said Susan.
