Geneva, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) At least 5,000 people have died of swine flu and 414,945 people were infected with the viral disease worldwide, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said in a latest update Friday.
The WHO noted the Americas region is most affected with 160,129 confirmed cases and 3,539 fatalities. This region is followed by the Pacific and South Asia.

It said the infection rate is lower in most European countries but in Britain, Belgium, Holland and Norway the number of cases is very high.

Experts insisted on the need to step up personal hygiene and good diet to prevent the risk of getting affected by the H1N1 virus, also called swine flu.
