35 new dengue cases in Delhi
November 9th, 2010 - 6:35 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The national capital witnessed 35 cases of dengue Tuesday, taking the total number of people infected with the vector-borne disease to 5,837, an official said.
According to a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) official, the Shahdara (North) zone with 786 dengue patients has the highest number of cases, followed by 742 in Rohini and 642 in Civil Lines.
There have been eight dengue deaths in the city so far.
With the morning and evening temperatures dipping gradually over the last couple of days, the number of dengue cases have seen a gradual decline. There were around 70 cases till some 10 days ago on a daily basis, the official said.
However, the number of Chikungunya cases are on the rise, with the city reporting 41 cases so far. Last year, there were only five Chikungunya cases during the corresponding period.
