New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Delhi Saturday recorded 34 new cases of dengue, taking the total number of cases due to the vector-borne disease to 783, health officials said.
“In the past 24 hours, we have recorded 34 new cases of dengue in Delhi,” said N.K. Yadav, chief medical officer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Contradicting the media reports of two fresh dengue deaths, Yadav said: “We have not recorded the two deaths that are being reported by the media because one of them was from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh and the other death was not of a confirmed dengue patient.”

Until now, there have been two dengue deaths reported by the MCD - one of a nine-year old boy and the other one of a 15-year-old boy.

However, with the temperatures dipping, it is expected that cases of dengue will fall.

Debashish Bhattacharya, the nodal officer for dengue cases, said: “As the temperatures fall to around 15 degrees Celsius, the mosquitoes causing dengue will stop breeding. This will help in controlling the situation even further.”
