Sydney, Apr 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 10 year old girl survived after being stung by the world’s most poisonous creature – deadly box jellyfish, has baffled all the medical experts no end. The jellyfish stung 10-year-old Rachel Shardlow when she was swimming in a river. She became unconsciousness, and her brother pulled her out of the river and found to his horror that the tentacles of the jellyfish were still around her legs. Before completely losing her consciousness, she said to her brother that she couldn’t see a thing and nor breathe at all.

She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she spend around one month and a half. Later she was certified to be well enough to go home too.

“I don’t know of anybody in the entire literature where we’ve studied this where someone has had such an extensive sting that has survived. From our point of view, it’s really useful information that you very seldom, if ever, get your hands on,” according to zoology professor Jamie Seymour, who belongs to the James Cook University. The poison of the jellyfish is so powerful, that mostly the victims go into shock and drown or they even die from heart failure, even before they are able to reach the shore and cry for help.
