10 fresh cases take Uttar Pradesh swine flu count to 79

Lucknow, Aug 28 (IANS) The detection of 10 new swine flu cases in Uttar Pradesh Thursday and Friday has taken the total number of cases in the state to 79, an official said.
Of the new cases, seven were reported from the south city branch of the Delhi Public School. Five of these were stated to be students and two teachers of the school.

Lucknow Chief Medical Officer A.K. Shukla, however, claimed that there was nothing to worry about.

“All of them have preferred to remain confined to their homes, where adequate supplies of Tamiflu tablets was being maintained,” Shukla said, adding: “We are also keeping constant vigil on each of the cases.”

About 70 of the 79 cases were reported from Lucknow while the remaining were from Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur and Deoria.

T.N. Dhole, head of the microbioligy department of the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), said: “About 35 fresh samples are pending tests in the laboratory.” He, however, felt that “there was no cause to panic as none of the cases were of a serious nature”.
