1 death, 11 new swine flu cases in India
March 23rd, 2011 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 23 (IANS) One person died of swine flu while 11 fresh cases of the H1N1 virus were reported in the country in the week ending March 20, a health ministry official said here Wednesday.
The lone death was reported from Punjab during March 14-20. Earlier, two such deaths have taken place - one each in Punjab and Haryana - taking the total number of such deaths since the first case of H1N1 was reported in 2009 to 2,744.
Eleven indigenous cases were reported during the week - eight from Punjab, two from Delhi and one from Rajasthan. The total number of cases now stands at 46,484 since the influenza broke out in 2009.
