YouTube being viewed more than a billion times a day!
October 10th, 2009 - 3:08 pm ICT by ANILondon, October 10 (ANI): Netizens watch videos on You Tube more than a billion times a day, it was announced on the third anniversary of Google’s acquisition of the video sharing site.
“Today, I’m proud to say that we have been serving well over a billion views a day on YouTube,” the Daily Express quoted YouTube chief executive and founder Chad Hurley as stating in a message for the site’s blog.
“This is a great moment in our short history and we owe it all to you,” he added.
Google had taken over the ownership of the site for 1.65 billion US dollars in shares in October 2006, after it was first launched in February 2005.
Apparently, 20 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube in a single minute.
The figure would be the equivalent of Hollywood releasing 134,000 full-length movies each week. (ANI)
