Lucknow, Aug 20 (IANS) A 25-year-old woman gave birth to a still-born child outside a community health centre (CHC) in Uttar Pradesh after she was denied admission there. An inquiry has been initiated into the case. Vidyawati was Tuesday night brought to the Gosaiganj CHC in Lucknow district in an advanced stage of pregnancy by her relatives.

However, the medical staff at the CHC allegedly refused to admit her.

Vidyawati subsequently gave birth to a still-born child in the gallery of CHC, officials added.

“We have already initiated an inquiry and also informed the police to register a case in this regard,” Lucknow chief medical officer A.K. Shukla told IANS.

“The matter needs to be probed and nothing can be said till the inquiry is completed,” he added.

Meanwhile, after the intervention of the health authorities, Vidyawati is undergoing treatment in a hospital here, officials said.
