London, April 30 (IANS/RIA Novosti) British royal newlyweds, Prince William and Kate, have delayed their honeymoon and would stay in Britain for the weekend, a St. James’s Palace spokesman said Saturday.
Earlier, the palace press service said the couple had flown off from Buckingham Palace in a helicopter Saturday morning, reportedly heading for their honeymoon destination.
However, the St James’s Palace said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would spend a “private weekend in Britain before the duke returns to work as a search and rescue pilot next week”.
“The couple have asked that their privacy be respected during the coming weekend and during their honeymoon,” the spokesman said.
The newlyweds’ destination remains secret, though bookmakers have bet on Scotland, Jordan, Australia and Kenya.
