A recent research was pointed out that daydreaming might be one of the root causes of happiness as that leaves you yearning for more. The study was conducted by U.S. researchers through an iPhone application that judged that participants on the basis of their thoughts, actions as well as feelings.
The research was carried out taking into account as many as 2,250 volunteers who were asked certain random questions about how happy they were and what they were doing at the present moment. The questions that was asked at regular intervals also gathered information about whether the participants were thinking about their present activity while they were also asked to think about certain experiences that they considered to be pleasant, neutral as well as nightmarish. After the results of the survey was gathered, researchers came to the conclusion that people spent 46.9 per cent of their time daydreaming when they are awake.
While revealing details of the findings of the research, Dr Matthew Killingsworth who was one of the lead authors of the study stated that mind-wandering turned out to be ubiquitous in every activity while adding that results show that our day-to-day life is pervaded to a large extent by the non-present. Moreover, the researcher also highlighted that daydreaming was one of the predictor of unhappiness but whether it is the cause or the result, has not been proved as yet.
