US stamp to honour Mother Teresa
December 30th, 2009 - 9:02 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Washington, Dec 30 (IANS) Nobel Prize winner Mother Teresa will be honoured on a US postage stamp next year. It will go on sale Aug 26, her birthday.
Mother Teresa, the Catholic nun who devoted her life to the sick and poor of India, was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
Other personalities to be honoured on US postage stamps next year include Oscar winning actress Katharine Hepburn, singing cowboy Gene Autry and artist Winslow Homer, the US Postal Service announced Wednesday.
The US post office releases a series of commemorative stamps every year honouring people, places and institutions. These stamps remain on sale for a limited period and are widely collected.
