US ambassador visits Delhi school, plays ball with kids

Barack Obama New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) US ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer Friday visited a school on the outskirts of the capital, interacted with the students and played basketball with them as part of the ‘Delhi Days’ initiative.

Roemer visited the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya to reach out to the community here.

“For the past four months, the ambassador has been participating in different activities which involve reaching out to the community. As part of the initiative Delhi Days, he has been visiting places like schools and orphanages every week,” said an official of the American Center here.

“Among his other visits was to the Mother Teresa Home for the Dying and Destitute, which houses 300 mentally and physically disabled men and women,” the official said.

This comes ahead of US President Barack Obama’s four-day visit to India beginning Nov 6.
