December 28th, 2010 - 7:27 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Dec 28 (IANS) Inspired by her TV cartoon hero Fireman Sam, a three-year-old girl alerted her father to a fire in a nonagenarian’s home, a media report said Tuesday.Little Rosie Birula ran to her father Nick screaming: “There’s smoke just like Fireman Sam,” the Daily Express reported.
She raised the alarm when she saw smoke coming from the home of Hedley Onions, 98.
Nick said: “I could see flames in the front room - I told Rosie ‘well done’ and raced across the road to help.”
The blaze started when an old electric blanket caught fire.
Rosie’s mother Nicola called emergency services to the house in Penarth, South Wales. Nick said yesterday: “I got there just in time.” Onions was taken to hospital for checks.
