Dharamsala, Mar 9 (ANI): The Tibetans living-in-exile in Dharamsala are rehearsing for the upcoming Uprising Day march in which a horde of monks andcommoners are participating.
They will march from New Delhi to Tibet border to mark the National Uprising Day against alleged Chinese ‘occupation’ of their country. Around 70 marchers, including monks and commoners from all over the country will take part in the march.
The organizers said that the march, which will begin on Monday, would be non-violent.
As a Buddhist we follow the non-violent concept, ideology that we got from Buddha and we remain adherent to these philosophies, said Tenzin Tsondu, a Tibetan Activist.
Earlier this year, the Tibetans-living-in-exile here had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to raise the Tibetan issue with China.
Their leader Dalai Lama has been campaigning for greater autonomy for Tibet.
The Dalai Lama set up his seat of power in Dharamsala after he and his followers had fled to India in 1959, following a failed uprising against Chinese occupation of Tibet.
Beijing established direct contacts with the Dalai Lama in 1979, but the dialogue was suspended in 1993.
An estimated 13,40,00 Tibetans live in exile, a majority of them in India and Nepal. (ANI)
