This car model costs more than the original
October 12th, 2011 - 6:22 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Oct 12 (IANS) A car model of a Lamborghini made of gold and studded with diamonds costs more than the original and is expected to fetch a whopping 3 million pounds when it is auctioned.
The Lamborghini Aventador’s stunning replica is 1:8 the original’s size and is considered the world’s expensive car model, the Daily Mail reported.
The model has a thin gold thread wrapped around its carbon fibre, and the tyre rims have been cast from solid gold. The interiors are made of platinum.
Diamonds have been put into the seat, headlights and the steering wheel.
It cost 1.7 million pounds and 500 hours to make by German model maker Robert Gulpen.
“Essentially the model is made out of solid gold and platinum — it’s less of a model more a piece of art,” Gulpen was quoted as saying.
“The body of the prototype additionally features genuine carbon fibre as used in Formula 1 cars and gold and platinum rims. To add that extra wow factor it also has diamonds in the seats, steering wheel and headlights.”
An original Aventador sells for around 250,000 pounds.
