New York City, Oct 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A phobia is an excessive, enduring fear of objects or situations that interferes with a person’s normal life and routine. Although people are logical beings and know very well that their fear is irrational and without any rhyme and reason, yet they are afraid all the same. However people with phobias always try to avoid the root cause of their fear. Common phobias include fear of heights (acrophobia), fear of enclosed places (claustrophobia), fear of insects, snakes, or other animals, and fear of air travel.

The fears and their symptoms may come and go, may be persistent, or may appear frequently. The underlying component is fear is the feeling when one is not able to think logically and rationally.

A phobia is an intense fear of something that, in reality, poses little or no actual danger, but it is a deep-rooted fear all the same. The fear may have taken birth during any incident in the childhood or because of any trauma suffered in life.

Physical Symptoms of fear are :-

· Tightness in chest
· Tightness in throat
· Oversensitivity to noise
· Depersonalization
· Breathlessness
· Weakness in muscles
· Lack of energy
· Hollowness in stomach
· Sighing

The Behavioral symptoms of fear are :-

· Sleep disturbances
· Appetite disturbances
· Absentmindedness
· Social withdrawal
· Dreams of deceased
· Avoidance of reminders
· Searching/Calling out
· Restless over activity
· Crying
· Clinging to reminders
· Treasuring objects
